Jul 14,  · Quick outline of Luke. Jesus’ origins (Lk 1–3) Jesus’ popularity as a prophet grows (Lk 4–) Opposition to the Son of Man grows (Lk –) Jesus’ betrayal, trial, and death (Lk –) Jesus’ resurrection (Lk 24). Luke’s gospel is a careful and engrossing presentation of God’s saving will and work in the world, preeminently through His Son. Each of the chapters are done individually. Some due to length, have been shortened into "continued" sections. Luke, well-educated in classical Greek and noted for his literary talent, wrote his Gospel and a sequel, the Acts of the Apostles, which follows the Gospel of John. Together the two works cover 60 years of the Life and Teachings of Jesus and the early Christian Church. Jan 02,  · The Gospel of Luke is unique in that is a meticulous history—an “orderly account” (Luke ) consistent with the Luke’s medical mind—often giving details the other accounts omit. Luke’s history of the life of the Great Physician emphasizes His ministry to—and compassion for—Gentiles, Samaritans, women, children, tax collectors.

Luke wrote two works, the third gospel, an account of the life and teachings of Jesus, and the Book of Acts, which is an account of the growth and expansion of Christianity after the death of Jesus down through close to the end of the ministry of Paul. The book of Luke is a Gospel that contains Narrative History, Genealogy, Sermons, Parables, and some Prophetic Oracles. The emphasis of Luke is Parables and contains more of them than any other Gospel (19 total). It is the third of the synoptic gospels. Luke, a . 1 Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled # Or been surely believed among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent. Word-for-word Bible texts of the entire book of Luke are narrated and re-enacted in this epic production of the Gospel's accounts of Jesus's life. The Gospel of Luke (2nd Ed.): Ignatius Catholic Study Bible (Ignatius Catholic Study Bible S). External Evidence:   Externally, the early church is unanimous that Dr. Luke wrote the Third Gospel and the book of Acts. Irenaeus (c. ) writes, “Luke also, the companion of Paul, recorded in a book the Gospel preached by him.”. Gospel means good news, in this case the good news of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as recorded by Luke. W. Manson has noted that “Luke has cast his net wide, and produced a gospel the most voluminous and varied, the most vibrant and sympathetic, the most beautiful and sweetly reasonable of all that we possess.”. It must have been written prior to Acts but after Mark’s Gospel. Act was written around 63 AD while Mark was written around AD thus 62AD would be a reasonable rough estimate for Luke. Luke was from Antioch, but traveled with Paul all over Southern Europe and the Middle East. The book of Luke gives us the most complete look at the life of Jesus.
